Apple Help Needed!..

So, my flatmates partner got her a MacBook Pro - She can't even use a fucking mouse and I have no idea how to use a Mac - She wants me to teach her how to use the damn thing...

I remember hearing that you can set them up as dual boot with Windows - Did I imagine it or is it a thing?....

The computer is a work of art - I love it - I just can't fucking use it efficiently and certainly can't teach someone else...

Back a long time ago, I was working for Apple when they switched from Motorola to Intel, and Bootcamp came out. We didn't support it yet, but it worked well and I think it still does.
There was also something called Parallels and I think that's still around, too, but it wasn't free. You could run Windows in a virtual window on the Mac OS.
(You could dual boot before bootcamp came out, though, but then you had to do things like use exactly the right hardware)

support.apple.com is good for most things, and if you're using OSX 10.4, I might have written the article.... lol

I am such a Windows cultist - I can do most things using muscle memory only - I can do anything on the Mac as well but it isn't natural and I can't teach someone like that...

You are overtthinking things. There's no reason to load up Windows, she will be fine on the Mac and so will you with half of an honest effort. They are pretty easy to use once you start tinkering around. Don't let your Windows experience cloud your judgment.

Hi Eddy. You can do this in 2 ways. You can run Windows with Bootcamp, or you can use Parallels. Parallels is better.

If you use Bootcamp, your Machine will boot into either Windows OR OS/X. But if you use Parallels, you can run Windows as a virtual machine inside OSX, effectively having both running at the same time.

If your Macbook Pro is the new M1 Chip, then you are definately better running with Parallels + Windows 10 for ARM. It is fucking fast, works perfectly, and gives you the most flexibility.

Yeah, if it's someone who's new to computers, just stick with the Mac OS. It's simple to use and at least for the regular user, there is nothing that you can do on a PC that you can't do on a Mac, except maybe things like not as many games are compatible.
