Tech Anyone here using Drupal as a CMS?

So far I've only seen request for Wordpress programming in adult.
    Any reason for that?

Asking for myself; but I have to tell a friend.

Kinda off topic but I remember a guy in the UK who was using it around 2006/2007 and telling everyone that he 'Coded the entire script that runs his site himself, from scratch'...

If people said 'Wow, well done', & 'Wow I wish I was clever enough to do that' etc, well that stayed up, but anyone that asked 'Eh? You wrote Drupal?' got blocked straight away and comments deleted !

Well they do say that there's one born every minute

It's been a while, but I think some people like Drupal for larger sites and sites that need good access management for different types of users.
Drupal's custom post types and taxonomies can be better than WP, too.

      NASA uses it.

It has been a very long time since I played with it. I seem to recall it was not exactly user intuitive/friendly.

ya its overly complicated. the only corporate people who enjoy it are the ones who overly complicate everything - ibm, intel, microsoft, research triangle. i haven't seen it in porn in about a decade.

wordpress is getting huge in corporate. lots of large corporate WP projects out there. i hopped on a few for easy money and some diversity.

Yes, same opinion of Drupal here. A bunch of my workers used to work on it - everyone has since stopped. A few years ago we needed to make a website for one of our dental clinics, and one of workers did it on Drupal so that my wife could update text herself... I could barely figure out how to do it let alone her. I redid the whole thing as simple header/middle/footer php includes and called it a day. If I was gonna have to make any edits anyways I may as well do it in a way that's quick and easy for me.

Drupal is kinda like ModX. A few use it for everything, and they're really fucking vocal about it.

                  I personally never liked it.

i feel that way about all these new frameworks too. i write vanilla js and jquery. i dont need to run 40 packages to refresh the page

K.I.S.S is a bad word now. i insulted a corporate guy in a chat by saying it. 'simple' reduces the workforce.

I never like either drupal nor joomla which was pretty big at some point, there was even big conferences held by no topic but drupal. My favorite CMS of all times was php nuke, toobad it died long time ago.

If 1000 Admin Pages, that all look the same and offer no hint of where to find them again sounds good to you Go Drupal!

Honestly if you're using Drupal for anything other than a large government or corporate website, you're making a mistake.. it's a fucking nightmare.

Either go Wordpress, or Roll your own using Laravel or similar php frameworks.

Wordpress is at a unique stage in it's life, and I've started moving away from it entirely as well.. it's best to go custom in most cases if you have the ability, skills or $$

I've worked with every CMS you can name, and I hate Drupal more than any of them by a fucking long shot... everything is 10x harder.

It's a configuration / not code set up and it's just a giant pain in the ass, with unreal overhead.

WP is bloated but its designed a lot better. easy to extend.

Wordpress is much better, however often used in situations where something custom could suit much better.

In the past a lot of mainstream clients would want or use Wordpress for simple business websites. When I can, I convince them to go custom.. just due to maintenance and the fact that if you use any number of plugins you've just introduced a third-party fail-point to your code base.

Easier to extend, but a massive pain to maintain once plugins are involved.
