Need help tweaking PostgreSQL max clients

Everything I try seems to fucking error out on me, anyone know a happy medium that isn't going to make this thing give me buffer underrun errors? I can help ya out....Postgres is a BITCH to work with heh, I was working straight with the developers on many many issues with it back with version 7.2 ;p
