Dave Mason wrote the song when he was 22. It was first recorded with Traffic when he was with them. Later, Joe Cocker had a hit with it when he covered it and Three Dog Night had a lot of success with it.

One of the most covered songs in Rock and Roll. Probably at least 50 different bands have recorded it.

It is not about feelin' alright. It is about "Not feelin' too good myself".
