test server setup advice needed

I am looking to setup a test server inside my small home network.
It should be a Linux/Unix box running apache, php, MYSQL and Perl. It should not be connected to the outside world but only to the other workstations so the websites can be tested via localhost. I also want to learn something here so I am not that dependend on the (sometimes slow) hosting company customer support. I know the basics but I am looking for a good book or web tutorial for setting this up.

Anyone of you know a tutorial or a good book?
