Anyone else having trouble regaining search ranking after https switch?

I've tested switch to https on 2 not so great converting blogs.
Took al the appropriate steps according to google. all old http pages redirect properly to the new https version.

but still an almost immediate loss in traffic/ranking that hasn't returned after six months. Anyone else experienced this?

http backlinks do still count if the target page is redirected properly right?

Damn, I haven't paid attention to my rankings but I guess I should!

If you have a 301 redirect from HTTP to HTTPS, then the links likely aren't your problem.

You should've converted years ago, though... doing it now is a bit late to the party.

This is my biggest concern in making an https migration. You won’t see this written about much, but in my experience in reviewing sites that have dropped after switching from http to https, I think that there is great cause for concern for any site that has potential quality issues."

Im pretty sure this is the problem, because these are old blogs with low traffic that hadn't been updated in months and out of nowhere started to rank high. And really didnt deserve it.
