      He left ID because he wanted to develop with VR instead because it was more fun.

When Doom came out, he decided it would be cool to let people make their own levels - the first person to do this BTW - so he coded the mod tool up in an afternoon. An afternoon. An. Afternoon. This is like early raster shit and lines of sight rendering, the motherfucker is a Mozart with code.

                                      QuakeED was ok, but I was a bigger fan of Quark/Quakemap back in the day
                                      But.. Maybe it's because I was young and couldn't completely get QuakeED to work right lol...

                                          This was for Doom, before Quake came out. Quake BTW, was the first 3D FPS.
