Wordpress media library on another server?

    Hello guys,

I tried looking it up but found nothing, I'm building a very media-heavy adult website and was wondering if there is a solution to have my media library on another server (or account), where I can upload and use it.

What's the best solution for me?
Is there any good WordPress plugin that allows me to do this?
Is better to create a new account for media in the same server or should I go to another host?
Should I use CDN for media? Is Cloudflare free plan a good solution?

Has anyone done something similar maybe that could point me in the right direction?

    Thanks!

This seems like a great question for a hosting company to chime in on.

OP sounds like he's here to do some business.

      Hi En1gma,

Is there any reason why you want to use WordPress in particular for building a media-heavy website? I don't really have an aversion to WP as some people do but in my experience for media-rich sites, such as tubes or even paysites, WP is not a choice solution. Please reach out with a bit more information on what you're building and your goals, I'll do my best to help.

This isn't the best solution for larger sites, but you can go into your DB and find the wp_options table then change the uploads_url to the second server. Then change permissions to public.

I've seen and worked on quite a few large paysites using WP, never had an issue.

Thank you guys for all your replies.

I've heard that Amazon S3 is expensive.
I might try bunnycdn, I've seen great feedbacks about their cdn service.

What do you guys think about using my media library in a subdomain? For example, images.domain.com
And create a new account for this subdomain so I can use my media library in there.
This way, I will have the backups of the main account smaller and not huge like actually are.
Do you think is a good idea? Does anyone know how to do this?

I have found this tutorial but probably is a little outdated and doesn't explain how to use in a different account.
Or instead of adding the path /public_html/wp-content/uploads/
I can use something like /home/username/public_html/wp-content/uploads/?

              Thanks!

It all depends on what files and what size they are in your wordpress media library.

You can use a subdomain for all your media files. Like Enigma it was said before. Here a great tutorial on how to do it: https://www.oxhow.com/host-images-wo...-better-speed/.

MojoHost offers an S3 compatible storage solution that might work well for you. Let me know your current usage and growth rate and I'll provide you with an estimate in spending/month. Definitely cheaper than Amazon. We also have a CDN solution, if you'd like to explore the option.
