Tech Question... Does Size Matter?

It says TECH question! I’m looking for a laptop cooling pad that works via USB port. Four or five fans, under $25 and rated highly.

I see they go by size. My laptop is ten inches (10”) I believe and many are for twelve inches (12”) and bigger.

I know if I get fifteen inches (15”) the fans won’t be under the laptop correctly. But will a few inches matter?

The laptop is only used a few times a month. It’s not new so I fear overheating by old components. I use it while lying on my side; it sits on my sheets. Yesterday I went to put it the case and my sheets were hot. I have a silicone air mattress pad and didn’t want to scorch it.

On Amazon, do you recommend any model or feature that I’d need? I see the pads with legs but I need the fans. USB as I have a lamp with two usb outlets.

I’d have to sit up mostly and that hurts too much. I sleep on my back and too much on one area breaks down the skin. I have a hospital table over the bed already.

I need something low so I can lie on my side and use it. My laptop screen folds back so you can use it as a tablet. It’s just too heavy, though.

Thanks, but it’s for 15”+. 2.5” overhang on each side won’t miss the hot spots and cool the wrong areas? I can’t recall the model number but it’s a Dell laptop that doubles as a tablet Discontinued all three models and I like it though the hdd failed after three months. They sent a new one and I saw posts of others with the same issue.

It’s a gift and the giver wants to spend $25 or less at Amazon. Prime pricing but the have to order by Thursday afternoon for Monday delivery. I said I didn’t care if it came in after Christmas but I’m not in charge!

You dont need fancy cooling mats - Just keep a glass of water handy and do this when you think it might be getting a little hot...
