Yes, I do. The first time I've discovered the Internet for myself was something like 1994 or 1995...

I remember these days. This was when you had to have enough intelligence to build your computer - yourself, by hand. You started with planning everything out, the tower, the mother board, the drives.... Then off to Fry's Electronics you would go!

I remember I did my college thesis on computer towers - the history, differences, and changes we would see in the future.

Those were the good days when only smart people were on line.

            LOL.

I remember getting home from school and trying to login to AOL.

If I got home early, before 3, I could get on most of the time.

If I got home even just a little late, after 3, I was totally screwed. Could be at least an hour, if not more, to login.

Eventually I just bought a line of my own and stayed logged in all day, LOL.

I once attempted to shotgun two 56k modems together out of desperation. But realized I needed a second phone line.

This is so true... the myspace and facebook eras ushered in the masses and ruined a lot of what was appealing about the early internet.

I remember when you would really surf. Right after we got bandwidth and the www was created, people would just randomly move through the web.

To be honest it has never needed any intelligence. Even office women did that. Don't know about the USA but here in Russia my wife was a 22 year old economist (economist is a person with a high economic education - not programist or engineer) and she was assembling computers for the office purposes.

Personally I still do it even now in 2018 because I can configure my hardware much more effective than commercial companies that sell turn key systems
