Does anyone even worry about it any more? I would think that anyone in power would have realized the downside out ways the upside to the point of non consideration. I just saw a post about Putin attacking Europe and it seems so weird to even consider. Who would gain what?

nuclear war will happen 100%...for smaller countries that do not have 100-s of billions to throw at keeping invaders away, nuclear is the best option...or bacteria...

i am just worried about nuke power in the hands of idiots.

we do not really need a war. we still did not even get rid of chernobyl and nobody knows if we EVER get rid of it or it the big catastrophe is still not here yet.

the problem they have there is that they can not get rid of the plutonium in the area.
plutonium 241 forms a new element in decay which is even more dangerous than plutonium itself: americium 241

americium 241 is water soluble what means it can reach the ground water and can reach the atmosphere in form of dust and rain down everywhere on the planet.

there is no fucking way to prevent that and in the next 20 or 30 years billions of tons of plutonium contaminated material will disintegrate in americium.

then the smallest problem will be that the area around Chernobyl will not be habitable for thousands of years - the much bigger problem will then be traveling around the planet.

I do not even think about it.

I fully believe in the "mutually assured destruction" concept. Any country who has nuclear arms knows if they ever launch, they will get the same back so.... Not much point in launching. I believe in the 1960s, 70s, and even the 1980s there was a chance of accident, but I am confident they have restrictions in place to prevent this - it's not possible now.

Even a mad man like Kim Jong-un knows he could never launch... He launches a nuke and he will get ten times worse back.

I surely don't loose any sleep over it.

I am much more worried about the train in my hometown. The train passes right through town. We had a problem a few years ago where a train full of propane caught fire, and a lot of the town had to evacuate for a few days.

the invader does not want to scorch the spoils this is true but the small country being invaded wants the invaders to fuck off but can not do so with conventional warfare...this means bend over or nuke up in a terrible way...the invader must invade, war inc is the #1 employer and expense in the invaders country, so the best you can do is make him invade somebody else...nukes make invaders fuck off...
