Coinbase question...

I have finally got it verify my IDs so I made my first purchase.

I bought 2 litecoins and according to the site its supposed to be instant. Yet an hour after making and confirming the order, its still pending.

Logging into online banking shows that they have not even taken the cash from my account yet. Is this normal for coinbase or has it fucked up on me?

Yeah, I'll give it another sot tommorow, but if it fails agin, Ill need to find another 'all-in-one' alternative.

I liked coinbase despite the annoyances of getting my ID verified etc...

I gave up with Coinbase, too much fucking around trying to get verified

It might be that some banks simply don't let you transact with crypto.

Coinbase has always been smooth sailing for me. Only issues I have with them is:
1. their fees are SUPER high
2. their signing of the NYA

Their reply about the cancelled payment isn't very helpful, especially since it's your first transaction. Are you supposed to try again? Use another payment method?

You're right, its not helpful at all. I did try again a couple of hours later. Thought it might be a glitch or something. Same thing happened again

On their support page it says:

Buying with a Credit or Debit Card

You can make a purchase with a credit or debit card if your card supports ?3D Secure?. With this payment method, you will not have to pre-fund your account to buy. You can purchase instantly without waiting for a bank transfer to complete.

Well it is a 3D Secure card that has been accepted by their system. Its from a major high street bank in the UK and theres more than enough money in the account to cover costs.

I dont get it. They have all my legit details, pics of my driving license front and back, a pic of my passport and a 'selfie' of me that matches the pic ID on both docs.

I am not trying to pull a fast one. Just buy a couple of litecoin to sit on... Not move huge sums of money about secretly. I looked at submitting a support ticket. It says expect a 3 day wait for a reply !

It can take time and can be a pain to setup accounts on the exchanges. Also look into Gemini. I have experience with Coinbase and Gemini. Bittrex, Bitfinex, and Kraken are also popular and don't forget Poloniex. Kraken seems to have issues.

When trading with Coinbase make sure to use GDAX (their exchange) rather than using the Coinbase back end to make purchases/sales. Using GDAX you can avoid fees using Limit orders as long as you are not buying/selling at market prices and considered a "maker or taker".

Have fun and be careful. If you end up with a lot of crypto coins and are going to hold, look into a hardware wallet and don't keep your coins on ANY exchange.
