hey, first register on Kraken or BitStamp or CoinBase( if you are in USA). "Upload" some normal money, setup your account with proper security, and later you may buy coins ! When you will have coins on echanger, you may transfer them to various wallets...

I am in the UK. I just wanna buy a couple of litecoins for the current value of £42.44 (With my Debit card) and just sit on them securely...

Just to see if they go up in value or not. I'm happy to leave them in a wallet for a good few years.

I downloaded app, and came to the submission of ID docs. It said take a pic on the phone in the app. However the camera within the app doesn't focus up close at all and it is impossible to take a clear pic !

If I go into normal camera mode, its as clear as a bell. Beautiful picture, but in the app, blurred as fuck!

Honestly, no. I've made some fucking stupid mistakes when it comes to BTC so I'm complete unqualified to give you any advice plus it would kill me if you tried it and lost money because I said it was a good idea.

The only thing I can suggest is that you do lots of reading, and when you're ready to start, start slowly. You can buy Bitcoin if you want, but you can also buy Litecoin which is much cheaper, or any of the other ones. The only thing I would suggest is that you start with small purchases until you feel comfortable. Don't bet your rent.

Not True. While Bitcoin is the powerhouse right now, it's really expensive for new people to get into. Etherium started at pennies is now at $400 + . BitcoinCash (BCH) is now at $850 !

Currently I'm buying BTC, BCH and Litecoin LTC. Litecoin isn't really moving at all but is super-steady. I'm HEARING that Volume is about to take off like crazy, and that the value may climb. I'm buying LTC but also buying BTC and BCH. ETH just exploded since March 2017 so I may buy some of that too.

It's been the most dormant of all coins usually. Most days just moving +-$2-4 so not great for trading, but maybe good for holding (at least that's what I do). Tbh I'd love to see it finally "wakeup" and rock out hard

Many people do seem to think it has a future. But I too believe mostly in, buy at least bitcoin 75%+ and the rest can be alts

I'm 'invested' in the coinbase thing now though. Its just annoying that they accept your ID and say just add payment info and you can buy coins. When you add the payment info, they then say we need more ID but you cant upload it for 24 hours.

I am not to worried about the payment info as coinbase seem legit, however I dont like the overall idea that they now have all my CC info but are not letting me use it.

Even if I delete the info, I'm sure they retain a copy anyway. Just feels cheap and scammy.

Theres a 4 step process. Steps 1 and 2 were my address and details etc. Step 3 is upload ID. It wanted a picture of my Driving license, taken via the app on my phone. I couldn't scan or take a photo - it had to be a pic taken 'in-app'... Because the app wouldn't focus at first, I used up 2 attempts with a blurred pic which wasn't accepted. On the 3rd try I managed to get it to focus correctly and it was accepted.

So steps 1 to 3 all have a nice green checkmark next to them and all I need do, is step 4, give my CC info so I can add funds. I do this, and its accepted into the system and I get a "Congratulations, you are ready to trade" notification, so I click 'Buy Coins' and expect to be asked what I want to purchase.

However, it takes me back to the main screen where step 3 (ID) is no longer green and it asks me for more ID. I have to take a picture of my passport, followed by a 'selfie' of my face...

However, once again the app wont focus correctly on the passport. So I get declined. I then get a notification that I need to wait 24 hours before I can try again to upload my ID.

They should have not told me / let me enter my cc details, if the ID they had taken was not sufficient. They said it was.

FWIW, it was legit UK ID accompanied with a legit UK address and legit UK bank details etc. Pretty straightforward for the KYC regulations. Its not like I'm in some country known for fraud or anything. It was a bait and switch I tell yah! A bait and switch...

Had I been able to send a scanned version of my ID it wouldn't have been a problem. Even paxum accepted my scanned versions. It lead me to think that the app may have been deliberately out of focus,in order to make it fail, but cant find anyone else reporting it as a scam online...

Galaxy S7 less than 6 months old. Takes crystal clear pics when not in the app

The problem stems from the fact that you have to have the phone very close to the document to get it aligned, framed and readable in the app. As such the phone itself creates a shadow over the document. Press the little 'lightning bolt' icon though, which then illuminates the doc to complete clarity, also causes a glare upon the document making parts of it unreadable.

In the same lighting conditions though, with the camera app, it gives a perfect shot without the need for extra light. Unlike in the app.
