    a question for webmasters.

guy/gals/others - I'm putting a site up with produced content, along with user generated content. I'm thinking march 2018... have domain purchased. webmaster stuff is outside my skills set.

I'd really like to read some experienced thoughts about such a venture... and I'm considering whom I would trust to run the site. more than likely a local guy, that's in the LA area Cally. thanks in advance guys... BMB

In my experience it is hard to trust people, but considering you will do, try to think in segments, cause webmastering is a wide concept. For example you should try to put Traffic in a segment, and Branding in a segment, and put 2 different talents on this. What I always did was Mind Mapping the whole concept and on this way I could see who could do what.

If you are searching for a sort of Office that does this kind of things in a sort of Webmaster Package I would not be able to help you into a direction. But for sure it sounds like you need a consultant, and a few here are on the board. They can help you start up with the first steps, and show you into the (hopefully) right direction.

Your website will be something like a video picture site where users can participate in? Only the billing, mobile and payment options for that to make a 24.7 income is already a job on its self, interactive concepts like this need a serious ground layer cause when they sky rocket after a good start up then there is no time to solve problems anymore.

Hopefully you will get some experts here on your thread, good luck!

If the site involves your dog I'll help. Setting up paysites is second nature to me very easy. Maintaining them is super easy. 17 years with my paysites easy street now.

Also if you look at the number of page views there must not be that many people around here in the *business*

So basically, you have nothing ....

                  A business plan ? A targeted audience ? A marketting plan ....

I am doing a mainstream project at this moment :

                  - domains , corporation done,
                  - Vanity 888 phone number done, fax ( yes, fax ) done ( virtual ), UPS store mailbox done.
                  - products/services clearly defined and price structure completed
                  - Website 90% completed ( french translation to do )
                  - demo site completed
                  - targeted clients/market identified, list obtained thru various government agencies
                  - advertising campain already planned out ; postcards to be sent by snail mail, advertising adwords, advertising placement in specific media ( online as on paper ).
                  - Budget for starup in place, available
                  - backup staff/help in case it starts faster then I anticipate

I read your post and I see that you have an idea to make a website ( or get a website done I should say ) and that is it ....

                  Not serious.
I know that Asspimple is stoopid ... As he says, it is a FACT !

But I can't figure out how he can breathe or type , at the same time ....

In my experience, if you want it done right... then you MUST do it yourself. It's like anything, you have no idea how cold the water is, until you dive in. You can plan your life away, just dive in and learn, learn, and learn some more.

If your content is good and unique, it will sell.

Not to scare you off... but here is a list, in no particular order, that you will need.

Content management - local working copy, local backup, off site back up

Webdesign - graphics and an HTML5 responsive design

Web programming to automate the site

Lightroom and photoshop - post processing content

Finl cut pro - post processing video content

                                    Billing company

Cash site for affiliates to get promo links and content from

Vacres.com hosting, best support in 15 years of being in business and three hosting companies later

There's a lot more... but that's a starting place. If you learn all of those skills, your costs will be minimal.

I will sell you my template for $50,000.

                                    Good luck

                                            Good luck
I'm NOT going to learn those skills. producing content is a full time job

I'd really like to read some experienced thoughts about such a venture... and I'm considering whom I would trust to run the site. more than likely a local guy, that's in the LA area Cally. thanks in advance guys... BMB
OK, first, get the site, put it together, get some traffic in and get it running before worrying about a webmaster. If the site is going to work, you´ll know this within the first month

In this case it's more about the OP than it is about business threads on GFY.

Amazing... Somebody here actually makes ( or wants to make) new content....that makes 3 of us

We make and sell our content now for 11 years ( and mainstream about 25)
                                                            Good luck !

Suggestion: Have a LIVE component as Live content can not be stolen and is always fresh. Be it live chat, video chat affiliate, post board, but LIVE is an important component. Good luck with your project, there is still $$$ in ADULT, think unique, what can my site bring that is somewhat different than the others.

Starting a new business is easier than convincing your friends that your new business is a good idea.

We all have the idea, the drive, and especially the motivation, but its sometimes very hard to convey and convince others that these are all genuine. Try talking to a bank about your grand idea for example. They won't care too much.

This should never mean that you don't try. Entrepreneur may not have the money, but they almost always have the time and passion.

First, ask yourself why you need someone else to run the site. Is it because you will be too busy doing other things? Will those other things improve your business?

If not, then run it yourself. You're the only one who understands your vision, so after you build it, you should be the only one to run it, at least at first.

If you can break down running it to a list of daily tasks, then list them, and train someone local to do it. Even better, setup a desk and computer for them in your own home and have them come over to work for you. Sure they can do it from their home, but having them come over at the same time every day (morning?) gives you a set schedule, structure, and free-form collaboration and generation of new ideas though conversation.

Whatever your project is, good luck!
