    Coding.

Well, it seems like it's now becoming a sort of basic skill to maintain if you do want to sit on your ass in an office and stare at the screen drinking coffee days long.

Even refugees get help to learn coding. ( like there are no other useful things to do )

That coding "Thing" sounds too saturated, what is it they are actually learning?

I understand there is backend, frontend, apps, games, web coding, enterprise level crap and so on. There are numerous languages that usually can solve the same task but, as I understand, due to standards and habits, features some of them are preferable.

Eventually it comes down to the task a person is interested to accomplish, securing a job.

I used to code back in the mid 90s and it was C and Pascal. Nowadays I use my skills to do some JS, CSS and HTML to do web related projects but never really moved beyond that point.

I like games but am not fancy working on them, I like web sites but I'm a little sick of that - been doing web work for too long. Not like I'm looking to switch completely off but I am researching some alternatives.

I'm though fascinated with mobile apps, iOS or Android - no preferences, but generally it has my attention.

Some would say front end dev would make sense to learn for a designer, I guess so, but IMO it's like doing dishes in a washing machine, I want a completely new approach.

So, what do you think would be the fastest yet effective way to bring back my coding skills and eventually get a job / start a project?

I don't think i want to learn massive corporate style coding pattern but I'm ready to step in and do learn shit like doing apps.

What language would you call the most universal and really a must to have a grasp of?

    I heard Java.

    Anything else?

Mark Prince enters the room, appreciate your input.

Sounds like you want to build an app. I say go for it.

I don't know if the money is any good in that field though.

If you have a Mac and an Apple device, I would do a iOS,

Otherwise go with Android. Use your PC and a crappy Android phone. That way if you don't like it, You aren't stuck with a Mac.

But, Hey do what makes you feel good.

Here are the two crappy apps I made. Then I gave up.

Random Fart Respone. - This was the best app ever made.

Spiders Vs Tank - Yea, Positive feedback was from people I know.

Nice crappy apps! Why did you give up? Was it too boring? Too complicated?

I have recently switched to iphone after almost 3 years on Android. I recall iphone was something very different back in the day. Now I honestly can tell I miss some stuff from Android, and honestly iphone does not feel premium or modern anymore. I mean i could really spend less to get Nexus. So, not sure about iOS.

More and more people get Androids, it seems to make sense learning Android apps.

Do I like it? Fuck knows. Gotta see how it goes. Anyhow it's Java and that shit seems to be used almost everywhere.

I didn't like building apps. I lack the creativity. I also have trouble sticking to things.

Just for myself, I want to learn more about web applications. Plenty for me to learn about web development and browsers. And I really need to work on my sites.

Anyways. Don't let me sway your decision.

            Have fun.

Yep, PHP and MySql will get you as far as you want... Plus it is very ewarding being able to develop custom stuff out of the 'boxed' stuff like WP...

There are some dev platforms you can learn about too, Symphony being a popular one

Coding is fun for me. I come up with crazy ideas and find myself wondering how it could be coded. The concepts of "it can't be done" or "time to give up" don't exist.

I came up with a fully-functional client-side API for MyFreeCams, back in the day when their revshare existed. I used it to power my site and it was every bit as functional as what Chaturbate uses today, if not more so. It was also quite profitable. It was, however, pure hell to code. But the reward when it began working the way I envisioned was almost as satisfying as the money I earned from it.

There was even a time I blended both the Chaturbate API and MyFreeCams API and whitelabled both sets of models together on the same page. Just to see if it could be done. It worked like a charm, and I ran my site that way for a while. It was then that I realized how much of a bigger site Chaturbate is, because their models would typically bump all the MyFreeCams models way down to the bottom of the list, except for one or two really popular ones.

I kinda wish MyFreeCams' revshare still existed, just so I could resurrect that demonic beast from hell and apply new things to it that I've learned to code since then. Yes, I still have animosity toward that wretched thing. The difficulty in creating it left me with post-traumatic coding disorder.

What I'd recommend to you is, if coding is a chore for you then don't do it. Find something you enjoy doing and focus on that.

                  PHP/Python.

If you want to get into game coding, though, try C#/Unity. Or another similar C-scripting alternative like 3d Game Studio.

Had a chat with a friend of mine about it, he's a hardcore 30 year experience game coder, also says Unity is a way to go.

Thanks. That is also another option. Creative writing or youtubing, i have an eye on those too. Or even taking some roles in the ads, fuck, I need to sit down and think. With all that money chasing and providing the family I almost forgot what is it I like.

Right. This is a reasonable step. Lots of WP sites and it's an ability to customize and do your own stuff many clients need.

If you want to get into game coding, though, try C#/Unity. Or another similar C-scripting alternative like 3d Game Studio.
In nowadays - you can create your own website without the need to be designer - or hire any. You can create and customize it anyway you want.
The same goes with the games:

Of course all of these are related to all the cheap fucks who believe that paying $10 for a banner is "too expensive - I'm paying $3 " or " You want $500 for a design layout ??? You crazy ? I ain't paying you that much - I was thinking about $25 for the whole thing ! "
"CSS ? What's that thing - talk american, buddy ! I ain't paying you to do CSS - I'm paying for a nice design - and I want that ! Not a damn CSS , FBI and bullshit ! Got it ?!? "

                                              Just saying.
