a lot of my videos are FLV, I don't think the html5 player will work with that, and it will take me a while to re-encode

I'm just wondering if its worth all the effort

Use KVS Player - WordPress Plugins - it automatically switches to Flash if it's installed, otherwise it uses HTML5 to play videos.

It's worth it to re-encode into MP4s. That way they will play on mobile and, believe me, you want mobile.

Get a program to do it in batch - not really that bad. You can keep the same filenames just now they will be .mp4.

it's a huge job, I have thousands of embedds spread on my blog network, which uses flash embedd and I presume uses the old flv videos too

in my opinion the best one is Video.js: The Player Framework, it's a html5 video player with fallback to flash, open source and does the job.

Lol what gave you idea how google penalize flash videos, by that logic tubes sites wouldn't receive any traffic. Hosted or embedded, it makes no difference.

                      https://www.nginx.com/products/strea...edia-delivery/

Nginx & FFmpeg you can reencode, stream and cache the new file at the same time.

                        Yes it's worth the effort.

Support for Flash on devices is at an all time low and it's getting lower.

sure I heard it somewhere, also the embed code for current flash player is around 10 lines

I suggest to re-encode yours videos to mp4. We made that time ago and it's pretty easy.
