    .com or .net?

...for a hosting company? I bought them both... but I'm using the .net domain as the main domain and parked the .com on top of it...

.net was meant for hosting companies and ISPs. So you are in the one business where a .net domain gives just as much credibility as .com. I suppose it depends on which sounds better with the name. If it isn't part of the company name, then who cares as long as they both point at the same place?

.net always seems to sound better when it's tech/hosting kind of site. Just have the .com point to the same place, but advertise as .net
Seeing as you own both domains, not like it's gonna make a difference.

I think rackshack is a net and I always end up at the wrong place first. Always go com.

.com simply because everyone tries that first or forgets and tries it when they go to visit you. Rackshack is a prime example of where .net can be annoying, as was said it's easy to forget.

However if you own both as long as they point the same way it matters little. As for all the '.net's were designed for...' stuff, as has been said this is no longer 1997 and the actual extension means little as regards the type of business these days (with a couple of very obvious exceptions).
                                            Ignorance is never bliss.
