Business Google ranking question

You know when you search for something local like type of business using keywords such as town name or near me.

How do you rank higher on the map that gets displayed?
We are.listed if you click the more button but I would like to be higher up.
Also the map isn't accurate and shows the whole local area but misses off the actual keyword town I searched for.

Your business must literally be higher than others in your region, for example a location on a hill or at the top floor in a high office building.

Oh right. We are on the ground floor in a valley so I guess that explains it. Thankfully we are not bottom, there is some guy below us. I guess his business is in a basement or something, sucker.

There is a trick with GPS location. Register business phone with google and hide it on the top of building. That is one of the parameters they are taking into consideration with new algorithm.
