Xcart vs wordpress woocommerce + plugins

Trying to decide between xcart multisite which is $1000 liscense fee and does everything I need OR wordpress woocommerce + plugins and some hacking / customizong work to do exactly what I need.I would need to hire a developer to do what i need in wordpress so it won't be a basic free wp install....

    What direction would you go?

X-Cart is the way to go. Stock, it has tons of good features.

Its been around so long that it has a large number of followers that have created additional features (plug-ins), and it can be tied to just about any payment gateway.

I have no experience with Xcart but have built many Woocommerce sites and spent well under the $1k Xcart licensing fee on various plugins to make it all work.

When I've needed something more custom, I've had good luck (with one exception) using codeable.io to develop custom plugins. However, those costs are usually over $1k.

I have a week ago set up a Woocommerce.

              I find it great.

So far all the plugins are what I need and so far not spent 1p on any.

By the way if anyone recommends plugins for Woocommerce that would be good.

perhaps you may find it easier to go with something such as mybigcommerce.com, we have several clients ordering quite often graphics and such for their mbc shops - seems to me that they're all doing pretty well

Ive used both currently I prefer woocommerce because of the availability of plugins that are needed for site security wordfence is a really good plugin for example

I dont think woocommerce has a ccbill plugin but they do have a netbilling one and it works well for me.

I also prefer the versatility of the woocommerce either is a solid choice though for sure.

Speaking of security...I've yet to find a good security plugin that lasted long term. Got sick of trying new ones so I recently put some sites behind Sucuri Security's WAF. They also cleaned up the crap the other security plugins let in.

                                            yep thats the onei use.

ive implemented this with the woocommerce membership module, and stripped down the system to eliminating the traiditional shopping cart, to a more simple system when most of the ecomm stuff are geared towards products add to cart, checkout, etc, this goes right to the point on whats needed.

That was one I tried...Until the company's website itself was hacked and they lost tons of credibility.

Note the #2 action they took.

ive implemented this with the woocommerce membership module, and stripped down the system to eliminating the traiditional shopping cart, to a more simple system when most of the ecomm stuff are geared towards products add to cart, checkout, etc, this goes right to the point on whats needed.
