    XP problem

My wife's laptop is having a funky problem. It runs WinXP home edition, and the screen is now blue, with the XP logo, and a message that says "perparing to hibernate".

Nothing I do seems to bring it back to the desktop. I've tried to turn the damn thing off using the power button, and event hat won't respond. Unplugged it from the wall, and it's still there using the battery power.

I lost the documentation for this puter, so I don't know if there's anything in the troubleshooting manual about it. All my other machines are XP Pro or Win 98 SE, and I've not experienced this with them.

Anyone know how to bring back the desktop?

    Ouch.

Hold down the power button for 10 seconds. It should shut down the computer, then just boot it back up and you should be set.

Yep. That worked. I held it down, but just not long enough I guess. Thanks.
