I disagree. In adult there is a lot of people that wrote a script then call themselves a programmer. That doesn't make them a programmer

That's just an extension of what I'm saying. Most "programmers" in adult can't define design patterns, talk about unit testing, why not to use singletons, the right way and wrong way to go about a PDO call, etc .. it's depressing. The ones I've hired are the result of a long process of careful screening and evaluation. It's really brutal finding the "good" ones, and even harder to retain them.

I've often wondered the same thing, but she's got a BS in Computer Science and a Masters in CIS. So perhaps it's learned.

It's really brutal finding the "good" ones, and even harder to retain them.

That's because the "good" ones don't want to build your "facebook killer" idea for $600. And the "good" ones are already being paid very well for what they do, doing what they like. Nobody in adult understands that.
