    These tubes were made in Russia till the 80's. You can still get you hands on some tubes and make your own...

            Thanks for information It would be cooler if it had some kind of "naked" design so that tubes would be more visible as tubes.

                        This makes it even more impressive. Not just a couple of modern chips connected to a few nixies. That box would be literally full of vaccuum tubes.

                                    Just a side note. In case of a high-altitude nuclear explosion, the EMR will burn out all those iPhones and other devices that use microchips and semi-conductors. Every unprotected electronic device will literally die, and only those tube clocks will remain fully functional
