How does Netbilling work vs. CCBill

I can't figure out the difference between the two... Netbilling provides merchant accounts and CCBill provides billing software? Does Netbilling also provide billing software? I'm trying to find the cheapest (but still safe) solution and while I keep reading that Netbilling is the cheapest, I just don't understand the difference between them and CCBill or Epoch etc. Can someone please clearly explain this to me?

Or... And this is just a crazy thought... I could learn about it by asking questions.

        HI,

With CCbill or another IPSP you using their merchant account. With NETbilling we help you obtain a merchant account, handle all the processing, providing all of the software that you need, and provide customer service as well to you and your customers if you prefer. We provide an extreme amount of control and flexibility.

There is significant cost savings having us handle this for you using your merchant account as well.

Not that anything is wrong with an IPSP as it is a good for some merchants.

However, there are differences and we are happy to explain the mall in detail.

Please contact us for more information and will be happy to help.

        Thank you, Mitch Farber

Just email netbilling and ask. Questions to ask is:

          1) who is bank
          2) who is gateway
          3) who is iso
          4) what is an ipsp
          5) what is better setup and why

If you ask the right people, the right questions, it can be worth a lot

I have used several 3rd party billers and have been using netbilling since 1999, the biggest difference is when a third party biller goes under, there goes your money. I lost money to ibill and I think the other was web800. This wont happen using netbilling.

I have 2 jackets in my closet from Web800. That was an interesting year, PowerCharge also went down at the same time.

Whatever happened to jettis.com and Tommy Duschant?

you still miss the point, if a bank closes, they are either bought up by another bank (like my merchant bank was) or you can simply take your merchant number to a new bank, get a new account and your rebilling is then routed to the new bank,,you don't get IOU's and empty promises like ibill gave us. When your third party biller goes bust, you can lose it all, its not going to happen with netbilling

There are several factors to consider whichever way you decide to go.

There are certainly benefits to using an IPSP and we're the longest running processor serving this industry.

                            A few things to consider:
                            • Epoch enables your online business to accept many more payment types than you could with your own merchant account. By accepting dozens of different international, regional, and local payment types, international customers can increase your sales significantly.
                            • Epoch provides its clients with state-of-the-art payment forms and other features such as our proprietary marketing tool, Logo GPS, a localization feature for your website which addresses your international customers based on their location, showing them custom payment options.
                            • Epoch's Smart Payment Forms are custom generated for each transaction and address each customer in their language, the currency of their location, and with payment options popular in their region.
                            • Epoch does not charge any type of reserve withholding or security deposit which means you keep more of your money from day one.
                            • Epoch's risk management team monitors your sales and manages your portfolio to ensure you remain within card association thresholds with regard to credits and chargebacks, domestic and foreign. The level of granularity in this area ensures that your overall portfolio performs at its highest possible level.
                            • Epoch provides 24/7/365 support to your customers in virtually every language by phone, chat, and email.
                            • Epoch provides 24/7/365 technical support should you have a problem with your password scripts or need assistance with any billing issues.
                            • Epoch provides you with a personal account representative who monitors your account and is there to answer any questions you may have.
                            • Epoch's position as one of the most experienced payment service providers of digital content provides a considerable advantage to your online business with its proprietary fraud filtering systems and post transaction data analysis.

Feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions for us.

I've been recently going through the application process with Netbilling. If you don't know what it means to have your own merchant account (because I didn't really understand it either) but this means that you can accept credit cards in your business name just like if you owned a sporting goods store or gas station. The application for a merchant account actually asks you what type of card swiping station you want them to provide. So once you have this merchant account you will become responsible for charges and chargebacks, customer service and really anything to do with the transfer of funds from customer to your business. The merchant account actually comes from a bank and you could try to go to your bank but it is highly unlikely that you'll get approved due to the nature of your sites content. You won't get merchant accounts from BOA, Chase or Wells Fargo either because they love porn but hate admitting it...Netbilling will help you find a bank that will work with you.

Netbilling and other gateways provide a service that makes it easy for you to manage your merchant account. That means you will see stats and support with your merchant account.

Some of the benefits of having your own merchant account vs. CCBill is that you can control your own join forms and check out. Everyone knows all the ancient CCBill forms that basically let you change the color of the background but still it says CCBill all over it and just extra tiny print it shows your company name. You have to use this page when you use an IPSP because your customer is actually paying them and in turn they are paying you. When you work with an IPSP your site becomes part of their portfolio and you much follow their guidelines to continue billing. When you work with your own merchant account you can control the join forms and flow of your signups.

Another benefit of merchant account vs. IPSP is controlling the scrub. What this means is that IPSP often set their scrubs really high so that they can avoid any assumed chargebacks or issues. They often block entire countries, black listed email address among other criteria which means that you loose out on those sales because of the IPSP. With your own merchant account you make the discisions on what you want to scrub. I have seen results with lowered scrubs and 100% of the time the merchant is making more money.

                              Hope that helps a little.

That's a very good write up.

However, using a company like NETbilling, we actually can handle customer service 24/7/365 as well on your behalf and you can dictate exactly the policies you want to.
Unlike some other gateways that provide 24/7 customer service, ours is in-house, not outsourced and we have been doing it for over 15 years now.

Thank you! That was a very helpful post, I appreciate it a lot. It seems to me like the best idea ATM (not ass to mouth) would be to look into making Netbilling work. I've contacted Wendy there and am waiting to hear back so hopefully we can make it happen. Does anyone know the appox. % p/transaction on your own merchant account and the additional % to process with Netbilling?

                                  Thanks everyone!

Does anyone know the appox. % p/transaction on your own merchant account and the additional % to process with Netbilling?

                                    Thanks everyone!
                                    Hi,

The exact rate will vary based on your average ticket price and volume.
Typically for adult membership transactions utilizing trials and rebilling's it can vary between 4 to 8% depending on the services that are utilized.

                                                  http://blog.unibulmerchantservices.c...ment-services/

You are asking the difference between having a middle man process your payments (3rd party processor) vs having your own direct merchant account.
Having your own merch. acct is going to be cheaper to process payments, but you will have to deal with customer service.

If you aren't pushing much volume and/or don't know what the fuck are you are doing in the business world, just pay a 3rd PP.

                                                          Hi Mitch,
                                                          Thank for your reply.
I was wondering if exist any "administration from the government" or any Institutions who control them (Law, Regulations & Related Acts.)
For example: associated with claims processing either from any surfer who can not cancel the rebills OR from any webmaster owner of a site who do NOT get pay from sales and rebills from a 3rd party processor.
                                                          Thanks!
