If you relay on serps you need wmt to see whats going on, is very useful.
I think i know what you are thinking.. "that you do BHS and when the G dorks catch one of my site they will look in my WMT and ban my others" No?
Well is not true every website (not the owner) is checked particularly they will not act like CIA and is more likely that you will get an algorithm penalty than a manual one..

I think it's pretty important to be keeping track of things... Although it's a bit glitched for my one blog and I haven't really gotten around to fixing it yet. Think when I applied my Google Analytics code later it messed up Webmaster Tools' Tracking.Comment

Google Webmaster Tools is a must if you care about search engine traffic. Google bot was blocked by robots.txt or some other shit quite of few times for some of my sites that I never could have known then cried about how Google hates my site instead of easily fixing it and returning back in the serps. Also knowing for sure how much traffic Google is sending me and what I rank for is pretty useful.
