A few days ago they said it was to help stop malware and if they know you or you have a good board presence they can manually approve you. You would think there would be other ways to do this.

Try talking to them. I had the same issue. Just over 100,000. I guess there trying to block shady startup sites. They got me dialed in after a few emails.
