    Sitemap question ? - Root Path

    I just purchased A1 Sitemap Generator 4.2 `Professional edition`.

    To scan my website and create a .xml sitemap it's asking for my websites directory root path. How do I find that path or can I put the websites URL in there instead ?
    Is there really any difference ?

    Thanks

    Yea the root path is most likely your domain.

      Your website root is the folder that contains your website files, the root path is the location on the server drive Apache serves your website from eg : /var/www/html/yourwebsitenamehere

      You can find your websites root path by creating a file called path.php with just this code in it:

      PHP Code:
      <?php print __FILE__; ?>
      and upload it via FTP to your website. Then go to yourwebsitenamehere.com/path.php (just remove the 'path.php' text at the end of the output) to view the root path location.

          Nothing was working besides my actual .com domain name but like Harmon said,
          I can be scanning a lot of unwanted junk.

          Zach over at amerinoc told me this:

          The path is usually /home/(user)/domains/(domain)/public_html/

          For example /home/sign-on/domains/your site.com/public_html/
