probably lack of interest, it still exists in the core, just removed from the UI.

add_filter( 'pre_option_link_manager_enabled', '__return_true' );

add this to your functions.php file in your theme to enable it

All these custom functions work great for Wordpress' core audience. You have to be a programmer to have a unique, funtioning Wordpress site. Wordpress is a joke now. More work than it is work.

Blogroll removal

I was surprised by that removal too. I use the menu function now. It works just as well. Just gotta get used to it.

I never used the blogroll, like ever.. I am still in love with Wordpress.
