Sending emails using phplist causing server issues?

I'm sending emails on my server and have noticed my own sites loading slow while sending emails. I set the time per email at around 1000/hour... it is set at 3 seconds per email. So 20 emails per minute, 1200/hour.

My question is can that cause the server to be slow? I pay for a dedicated server with all the bells and whistles.

Is the solution to get another server for emailing? What is the best way to send out mass emails and not get black listed and not have your server slow, if in fact, sending emails every 3 seconds will slow a server.

I will say that I have noticed *really* slow loading times while sending this email and am about 80% sure that sending these emails is causing the issue. Any suggestions?

I'm 100% sure the emails are slowing down your server. Try cutting down the rate by half or offloading email to another box.

I think you are right.

Anyone have a good deal with servers? Want to use it for backup as well so need about 6 tb and the IP's not banned.

How large is the email you are sending? Does it include attachments?

Maybe try to trim it down.

But its never a bad idea just to have a server for emails only.
