I need to get a dedicated server and I need it fast, good and last but not least, affordable. I don't want to install anything, I don't know how, so a server with no software installed and needing an admin is not an option. pls post your experiences

Rackshack is great but the guy says he "doesn't want to install anything".

Rackshack is only for those who are already linux gurus or want to be. You have to update your own kernels, install security patches weekly at least, etc.

There's got to be a catch, 100Mbit of cogent bandwidth costs $3k. I'm sure the server costs something too. Does 'unlimited' really mean 'we have a 24 port switch and one 100Mbit cogent link for our customers to share' ?

Too many hosts rely heavily (or completely) on cogent's low pricing... what happens when/if they go out of business?

porn is not a problem with FDC - downloadspeed however, is a major problem

They tend to put a hell of a lot of servers on each 100mbit pipe..

i wouldnt buy a server from anyone who runs out of servers, imigine what else they can run out of, i mean most places get sold out, and have some new ones next week, and they have been sold out for almost 2 months.

also i know for a fact thats where alor of warez/mp3 groups go for dupsites

so if you wanan deal with what comes along with dump sites go ahead

Dont think so, do a traceroute to their Domains listed in the "testimonials" they all trace to Cogent. Which at the prices they list is damn good.

We have redundant servers in Hong Kong on Qwest, we put our web site on the redundant connection so in the case of network outage our customers can get to our support channel, our contact information, and email us. Also we provide offsite, out of the country backups to our hong location in case of fires, earthquakes, nucleur war, etc.

Funny how you get punished on this web site for thinking ahead..

In terms of what you think we pay for bandwidth, we buy bandwidth from Cogent in the Gbits not Mbits.

The server is INCLUDED in the price for the bandwidth.

If any of you guys want to give us a shot, I will hook you up with a free month trial.

I have been real happy with Web Air, They treat me very good and Web Air Mike is the best.
