How will Google EMD affect domain auctions?

We all now know that Google has started to remove the bonus value previously placed on exact match domains. This means that ranking an EMD will essentially be just like ranking any other domain.. the site will need to have value (content and links) to win those top spots. And even if you personally disagree since the algo change is only affecting a percentage of sites so far, the perception of this devaluation is alive and well.

So does this mean the value of EMD's will drop as well?

Probably won't affect .com domains much, based on a temporary Google algo. It might affect long tail domains, and other TLDs.

I'd say yes, this could hurt those guys that are brokering big domain names. This goes to show that DN's aren't worth what ppl think they are. At least not right now atm.

I disagree completely. The really great or "big" domains are going to be the least affected by anything Google does with its ranking algorithms.

So the big domains might keep their value, but longtail emd's not so much. That would make sense. This emd algo change might end up affecting more than just SEO.

it will only effect those who buy such domains purely for seo matters. if you want something memorable/brandable, emd domains are still one of the best. i doubt you will see big companies now regging fddsfssdfsd.com because they rather not pay for keywordkeyword.com.
