Need help with http auth forms and wordpress

I don't know if it's because I have yet to have my coffee or caffeine for the morning or what, but I cannot find anything to help me out here.

Basically what I need to do is setup a login form (instead of the http auth pop-up box) on a WordPress page, so a user can login and access a members area outside of wordpress.

Is there any demos/tutorials on this?

Edit - this will be using htaccess/htpasswd.
