Things can (and likely WILL) go wrong with auto-updates. They've gotten better since past versions, but even the last update fucked one of my databases off. I have only a handful of active blogs, BTW.

And it never, ever improves. Wordpress wants to be everything to everyone. They should have just stuck with being a simple, concise blogging platform...

But Wordpress jumped THAT shark around 2007. Its a great platform for newbs and people who are trying to make buck off of other newbs. Install WP on your GoDaddy or Hostgator account, and watch your site get hacked within two months. Thiose people don't fucking update...

Wordpress is the Microsoft of CMS's. That is NOT a good thing, btw. "Bloatpress" would be a better name for this useless POS.

Yes, it is bloated but the improvements keep coming.

I can't complain because I am now specializing and niching my mainstream business out of WordPress.

you shoud be avoiding queryposts, and custom wp querys are much as you can, instead do it the proper way.

not really, ive made a few, but they are simply just ajax versions, with user uploads, a-z post loading, etc.

Well...3 hours later I'm finally finished updating. It's such a pain in the ass that updating themes takes off your custom code, had to add in all my tracking and plugrush codes again on each blog .
