Time for me to babble on about things to make your paysite convert better...
A common point of agonizing I see with newer site owners is what to set price points at. Often they are under the mistaken belief that surfers comparison shop and they should try to undersell the competition. In most - not all but most - cases this doesn't work. It seems the pricing from $29.95 to $34.95 has the best response (except on amateur sites).
Also how long to make the trial and how much. Trial or no trial? Etc...
My answer to those questions is not anything set in stone though... the thing that's important here is to maintain the practice of flexibility thatmakes Internet business so unique and powerful. When you start up a site set up a number of different billing plans with your processor and then run them in 7 day (or more) periods to test which gives you the best results. What you think will work best and what actually works best may be very different. YOu may think a trial sucks because so a large % drops off but when you compare the numbers you end up finding out you make 5% more revenue overall with it. So set up four or five schemes and then TEST AND MEASURE. Don't be rigid in your thinking and you'll get better results.
A sample of four 7 day tests to run might look like:
$4.95 - 3 day trial, $29.95 30 day, $69.95 90 day
$3.95 - 1 day trial, $34.95 30 day, $79.95 90 day
No Trial, $29.85 30 day, $180 per year (sold as join for only 50 cents per day!)
$4.95 3 day trial, $34.95 30 day, $180 per year (sold as join for only 50 cents per day!)
... and a miliion other combos... just choose a small group that makes sense.
Now, if you have a well made spreadsheet to run projections off of that figures in conversion, trial conversion and retention, you can honestly compare these and make the right choice.
Hope ya'll find that helpful.
