Do you want to make lots of money, or do you want to make plenty of money and not be bored to tears? Personally I'd take as many comp sci courses as possible, gain a deep understanding of the underlying principles, the WHY. That's personal preference though. Look.at the CCBill database thread. Would you rather learn how to screw up mysql, MS SQL, and Oracle, or would you rather be able to design MySQL databases as scalable as Twitter, Wikipedia, and Youtube? Decide what you like, look at the courses and pick what interests you. Personally I like the science side, the engineering. For historical display only. This information is not current:

From having a IT consulting business for 10 years now .. here are my questions:
What is the role in the Tech field that she is looking to play? ( sales?, full time staff member, 1099 employee aka hired gun for just projects? )
Also does she want to stay on top of what's new out there? .. a true interest in always expanding her knowledge?
I can tell you from doing this a long time, this is not a static field, you constantly need to be ready to learn new things and maintain the certifications.Comment
