    Need a Batch renamer

    i need to rename pics
    1.jpg 2.jpg 3.jpg
    and so on in a folder,,

    is there a program that can do it?

      they have a free trial. I would be lost without this little program........

              IrfanView - Freeware image viewer with a batch rename function... pretty nifty.

                      Cool thumbnail generator and easy to rename tool.
                      You'll find it on http://www.download.com
                      Works good for me...

                          easiest way in dos is just like this...

                          rename file*.jpg newfile*.jpg

                          works for most situations with numbers. if you want something more complicated do this...

                          dir /b > rename.bat

                          get a good text editor... then just do this...

                          edit that file and you will see a listing of the images.

                          do a block cut/paste or search/replace or a macro... so instead of this

                          file1.jpg
                          file2.jpg
                          file3.jpg
                          file4.jpg
                          ...

                          you have this

                          rename file1.jpg newfile-a-1.jpg
                          rename file2.jpg newfile-a-2.jpg
                          rename file3.jpg newfile-a-3.jpg
                          rename file4.jpg newfile-a-4.jpg
                          ...

                          save the file and then run your new .bat file...

                          type

                          rename.bat

                          and watch your files get renamed fast! ;)
