    Cam Site Programmers? PHP/FMS

Any solid programmers around here? For assistance with cam site development.

Local west coast (los angeles) would be good but not absolutely necessary. I do have some euro devs already so a few locals would be nice.

Required experience: PHP/Flash (Flash Media Server) , Wowza a plus.

Must have strong portfolio/site references.. you will be working with MyCamShows.com

The most helpful of the group. Thanks for the referral Paul.

A thread seeking additional programmers and MARK you cross-promote your stuff here? Thanks for the invitation to hijack your threads when I decide to start promoting my software heavily for licensing.

Mutt, do you know any software that doesn't have a bug or two? Aww you're clearly pullin my chain.. who doesn't realize when you have a monster application you're always going to need a good crew.. and adding more brains into the mix for growth and help is necessary.

                Adam,

All I was doing was offering you our assistance. Writing and developing cam software can be expensive and I was opening the door to you to discuss alternatives, that is all. No Hijack intended. If you don't want it, all you had to do was ignore my post or say no.

That exactly the reason why many people DON'T take your script as a "solution".

Really? "Cooler"? In what way? I think that if you compare features you might find that ours has packed and does a heckuvalot. Plus I don't recall ever giving you a demo or walk through (forgive me if I'm wrong). If you don't mind I'd love to hear your review & comparison of both of our products.

no, not pulling your chain. as somebody who might be in the market for cam site software i want to be confident in the software i select and the company behind it. i know all software has bugs and will continue to as it evolves.

if NATS was on GFY looking for freelance remote programmers it would make me less confident in them. if i invest in software and base my entire business success on it i want to have confidence in the team/developers behind it. it wouldn't be very reassuring if when bugs/problems arise i see the company on GFY, oDesk, etc looking for freelance help.

different if you were looking to hire a full time in house developer to solidify your team.

i do want to look at your software.

Not that Adam needs me to defend him, but sometimes it is good for a company to hire freelance programmers to do a single project because it can save the company money, keeping the cost of their product competitive. Also, not all programmers are looking to work for a single company. It makes alot of sense sometimes to outsource depending on the job that is needed.

To me, a company looking for developers with expertise in a specific area is an active company that's continuing to enhance their software and develop new features.

Also, a company that doesn't take advantage of experts outside of their geographic area and does everything in house is foolish. A cam company would be smart to hire a codec / parameters expert for a few hours, a GUI expert for a few days, etc. A recent example is we just worked with the guy responsible for Linux RAID. Noone in the world knows more about Linux RAID than he. If I tried to do those kernel fixes in house it's practically guaranteed we wouldn't do as good of a job as he did.

You mentioned NATS. If they posted here and ended up with me working with them on security, to improve the security of their product, would you see that as a bad thing? Not that they'd have to come to GFY to find, John has my number, but just as an example.

Also, a company that doesn't take advantage of experts outside of their geographic area and does everything in house is foolish. A cam company would be smart to hire a codec / settings expert for a few hours, a GUI expert for a few days, etc. A recent example is we just worked with the guy responsible for Linux RAID. Noone in the world knows more about Linux RAID than he. If I tried to do those kernel fixes in house it's practically guaranteed we wouldn't do as good of a job as he did.
i agree but as a customer i don't want to see it - they can recruit freelance specialists behind the scenes. finding good skilled freelancers is a skill/art in and of itself.
I moved my sites to Vacares Hosting. I've saved money, my hair is thicker, lost some weight too! Thanks Sly!

If they posted here and ended up with me working with them on security, to improve the security of their product, would you see that as a bad thing? Not that they'd have to come to GFY to find, John has my number, but just as an example.
NATS doesn't do that. They have posted on GFY they are looking to hire full time programmers to join their team.

So because they hire full-time programmers, that means they don't hire contractors for specific knowledge dependent tasks?

                                                Interesting conclusion.

So I guess I won't count on your business anytime soon then?

Local west coast (los angeles) would be good but not absolutely necessary. I do have some euro devs already so a few locals would be nice.

Required experience: PHP/Flash (Flash Media Server) , Wowza a plus.

Must have strong portfolio/site references.. you will be working with MyCamShows.com
My company already does contract programming work and we are already in cams. We're in Montreal not LA which Adam already said in this post was cool, and we already have experience in PHP, Flash and Wowza.

This post to me, looks like he was building one for his own use. Either we could help him out with custom programming, or offer him our solution. Had I realized that Adam was looking to build a solution for resale, I would have not responded (competition is competition).

Adam already gave me shit for hijacking his thread, so fine, we're done. But you have no reason to call me a fucking douchebag, so you know what? Fuck you. Next time take a minute and re-read the thread before you say stupid shit.
