    Any android gurus here?

Bought the phone 5 days ago, and within twenty minutes of having it, it locked up with a black screen and was unresponsive. Since the original order was a gift, I took the 4G that was purchased and exchange it in store for a 3D, paying the $35 restocking fee, even though the phone was literally 2 hours old. Sprint is now telling me that they cannot help me and will not exchange the phone since I've had one exchange within the 14 days.

The phone got progressively worse and now locks up almost 15 times a day. It usually happens when I go to unlock the phone, or after it sits idle for awhile. I installed a program to capture the error logs but have no idea what they mean. Sprint had me do a factory and hard reset on the phone with no luck. The service center even ran it through their diagnostics program Slate and it came back fine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Seems like a MediaScannerConnection error.... search google for it

If nothing important is on the phone maybe you could do a new install or search google for your phone type and Android/firmware upgrades

If this is the same as a factory reset or factory data reset, I've done both.

Yeah, it's HTC. How do you figure it needs a new mainboard? Seems like a software issue from what I am reading.

You got a dud and your carrier is a dud too...

T-Mobile has always bent over backwards to appease me. Maybe you have a shitty plan? I dunno... I have fucked up many a phone and without insurance they send me a new one... Maybe you have a shitty plan? Did I ask that already?

Flash a custom ROM. Check xda-developers.com for details.

                              Go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1095

                              Go to the Q&A section
Read all the stickies in the Q&A
                              Go to the Dev section
Read all the stickies in the Dev section

Peruse through the various custom ROMs until you find a one you like with a newer version of android.

I'd suggest trying out the various ICS releases but you can stick with a GB release if you want...

No it isn't.... A factory reset doesn't change your Android or firmware version, it just resets the settings. I'm talking about putting a newer Android or firmware version on it, search google or your manufactorers website if there is a new version available and how to put it on your phone.

A lot of HTCs are having problems with random crashes / rebooting and it often turns out to be hardware failure.

phones nowadays are rush produced and hardware flaws are common, high failure rate when brand new, but if ok they last forever, so if you get a bad one you should take it back and exchange it right away
