Does SKYPE actually work?????????

I've been on a few Skype calls and it seems to work fine.

But I'd like to know if I'm "anywhere in the world" with a "decent internet connection" whether I could just dial and dial and have the sound quality always be INSANELY GREAT.

Yes I am located in the US and regularly have video calls to the Netherlands and sound and video quality are very good and my internet connection is not the best.

I use it often to call mobile numbers from the US to Japan and it can be very spotty, like I'll hear a sort buzzing sound the whole call.
Overall though for the price it's very good.

Works in Thailand and the net here SUCKS. On a bad night the video calls will be choppy but the voice side is usually ok.

I use Skype mostly for business, but I definitely prefer FaceTime when given the option. It's a lot less choppy.

If it's going to be used that much for business, a couple extra dollars for Vonage or similar might be good. I've been very happy with Vonage. If you're internet connection isn't the best, you can set it to need less bandwidth by reducing the sound quality down to what a landline might provide. (A standard landline is 64K, Vonage can be set from 30-110kbps.)

Skype is pretty good if you are on wifi. I can use it on 3G in Rio but it is less good in the states. I put this to the fact I tend to be in the car and moving around. If I use it on the street in Rio, I am walking or in a taxi and not moving that fast. So less tower switches etc. I might look into Vonage. My girl and I use facetime or Viber to talk to each other as it is a better picture call.

i use skype on my droid but it works better when its on wifi. ICQ is better for mobile phone IMO.

Skype works fine for me both voice and conferencing. Multichat etc.
