Rubber is basically a film about a serial killer who happens to be a tire.
I just watched this movie, and amidst the gore and very funny dialogue lies the persistent question as to why we are here, what is the reason?
And the resounding answer is "No reason at all."
That may sound like a downer, but if you watch this film it's anything but.
Without giving anything away, I would say if you are at all questioning the meaning of life or existence itself, check this film out.
And if you just want to watch something completely different, absurd and satisfyingly existentialist, watch Rubber.
But don't take my word for it, read some of the IMDB reviews which range from "amazing" to "total shit." People are all over the shop on this one, which is usually a good sign.
So there you go. One thing I can guarantee is that you've never seen a film quite like this before.

In the Steven Spielberg movie E.T., why is the alien brown? No reason. In Love Story, why do the two characters fall madly in love with each other? No reason. In the excellent Chain Saw Massacre by Tobe Hooper, why don't we ever see the characters go to the bathroom or wash their hands like people do in real life? Absolutely no reason.
