Hostgator and wordpress

Anyone ever experienced problems while working with on wordpress that is hosted on hostgator? I've just purchased 10 domains for blogs, and started filling them with content, but they are all full of bugs that I've never seen before . First ,I've thought it is problem with browsers but it snot. For example, I can't switch to visual mode when writing new post. Or , when I upload photo, everything is frozen, so I need to refresh, and then, photo is already in media, but I can work only in HTML mode.

Quite a few Wordpress blogs on Hostgator here for a fair while, no probs at all

I had this issue with newest WP instalations when installed firefox 7, downgraded it to 6 and it works again. So I think it's a browser and WP issue, not the hosting

My $10 hostgator account has done me better than a dozen adult hosts and several dozen mainstream ones. It is perfectly fine and their support is pimp. Why the hate, because it's hostgator?

Oh yes, those unlimited shared accounts are a bit special, in many cases better than VPS that are 10 times the price

If you have installed WP using the cpanel fantastico sometimes that causes problems. I had it with one of my WP sites on Hostgator and I uninstalled it and downloaded the zip from WP and manually installed it and it was fine

We have quite a few shared hosting accounts with HG, some with over 100 blogs each on them and they run absolutely beautifully. HG's support is also the best I personally have ever experienced with any host anywhere. Been with HG for a large portion of our hosts for about 3 years now and have been way over satisfied with everything about them, especially the price!

OP, we had similar issues like you describe, our issues turned out to be FF related and not the host. You might want to try testing with a different browser such as Chrome or god forbid IE.

Same here. We have a reseller account at Hostgator and have had no problems at all with hosting, installs or support.

Same here...I have a reseller account for some mainstream stuff I do and have over 500 sites with no problems.

All my adult stuff is @ swiftwill and I highly recommend them.

Yes, I did one click install. Never had problems with that with other hosting providers....shit, now I have to reinstall everything, with plugins and set everything again....

Well, I don't know where is a problem. I have two wprdpress instalation on same account from before, and never had problem. Now, I've manually installed and also,once again with fantastico,but it is incredibly full of bugs. Worked all night to see what is going on

Now that you brought this up, Hostgator support will even help your hosting customers for you if they use the right avenues. I'm surprised they aren't spammed here more, guess it makes you look like a noob.

it seems that problem is at my end somehow. I am now adding 10 new posts on my backup laptop , and everything works fine. Stange since when I update wordpress sites hosted on go daddy , I don't have problem. I will reinstall all browsers now

You know, now that I'm thinking about it I've had some weird ass WordPress issues after I've had my browsers open for a long time with multiple tabs. You might just need to clear out your history / cache / etc and reopen the admin.

thank you. some of problems are: not being able to insert image into posts. other one is no being able to work in visual mode,only html. Now I 've deleted all browserr, I am celeaning registry and scan computer with tons of software. Guys at support told me to avoid one click install and use fantastico. I've insalled manually at the end.

I Have never had any problems with hostgator. Use it for all my mainstream stuff! Like other said it might be your browser. Good luck.

I'm comparing Hostgator to smaller companies that spam this board. One day my site is down, it takes 24 hours to for them to reply to an email, they don't answer the phone. It turns out the reason they shut my site down is as they thought I hadn't paid, but they forgot to check if I was someone who paid via Paypal, I'd actually paid a year in advance. Hostgator are there 24/7 with a tech team, their shared accounts of very fast and they'll even do a bit of coding for you

I have used dozens of hosts over the years, shared and dedicated, cheap and free. They are so far superior that it's hilarious. I guess if you want a fully managed host where you send an email to get a database installed they wouldn't be for you but I can't think of one bad thing to say about them and that is amazing.

If you use them and haven't had any problems, why would you think otherwise?

I wouldn't throw sites with heavy traffic on there but they server a purpose.
