I say, you need only 1 blog, SEO done, and earn money.
Well he's right.
Farm blogs are a thing of the past since the Panda update that has just begun by the way.
Nothing, nothing beats original content on it's own .com domain with nice keywords in it with no more than 10 sites per Ip.
Oh yeah, forget about the inbound link bullshit. Not needed anymore. Don't interlink with your other domains. Use various registrars, various sponsors (linkcodes) various hosting and whois protect da shit

It's always a good idea to run a pyramid, running into the 1 main blog, gives you more diversity & traffic. You can run niches into your main blog then follow through to your sales

VOILA
ça va faire 100$ merci
Shit, I don't do any of that stuff and my blogs have been just fine. If your blogs have quality content Google will love them. I gained huge amounts of traffic with every Panda update and all 60+ of my blogs are just on 2 shared accounts. You really don't have to put that much effort into SEO if you write quality posts that viewers like.
I used blogdesk for a long time till I discovered Windows Live Writer

i wonder how much will cost to manage 25 and 50 sites....
Unfortunately not my site, but I've been using them since early beta stadium. Costs have been discussed for a long time, and it seems to settle in around $0.50 to $1 per site and month, so not at extremely expensive, at least not for what you get.
Right now it's free, so sign up and try it.

Lol. I actually do agree with him when it comes to starting a network or expanding on a relatively new network, but I also think there's a 'search equity' metric of sorts written into the algo so as not to over penalize regularly updated and/or aged networks who have been using SEO best practices while doing it for years, so you'll be fine.
