Just got an email from a customer...

Below is one of many spams I have recently started to recieve. As you can
see it has been sent to [email protected], which is an email address created
only to purchase content from your company. Therefore you must have sold my
email address to the spammers.

I hope they paid you well, because I will not be buying any more content
from you, and will recommend to everyone I know to do likewise.

I've never traded/sold/shared/displayed our list with anyone... I'm the only person with access to it and yet people are getting spammed? Am I missing something here? How the fuck would this happen other than the company spamming using random character generation? I installed several features in the software to ensure security of the list.. argh.

I have NO idea how the fuck this is happening.. we have not, NOR would we ever sell our email list to ANYONE. Hell, we don't even sell adspace.. we will place an ad now and again for programs/sites we respect and who respect our right to do so. I am appauled that someone would seemingly go to these lengths to pull this bullshit. We send ONE email a week, our weekly update.. Anyone who's been on our list knows that as fact. I think ONCE in the entire history of our list we sent TWO emails, and the second was because the code screwed up in the first and was sent in error. If I find out who the hell is doing this, believe me, they will not be pleased.

I care that people are making it look like WE spam or that WE sold our mailing list. I CARE about my customers, and I would NEVER EVER do that to them. Therefore, if it makes my customers upset, it makes me VERY FUCKING UPSET. We did not GET spammed, we had someone spam using our name. THAT is bullshit.

They got spam TO jact @ anyfuckingdomain.com (An email address they'd setup specifically for our company apparently) and yes, I know that's how it appears. That's the problem.

No it doesn't...and I wish there was a better answer. I don't know if someone could get you any closer the the spammer in question with the full email header. You should have your pissed off customer send you all the info.

I wrote email to the contact address from the whois, no response from them, but .. Wow.. Suddenly I'm getting spammed like fucking mad on the address I sent the mail with. I can't win.
