which is best free forum script ?

vbulletin is gr8, but i am looking for some free option for starting non/low profit forum ,

so which script is best ?

phpbb , invasion , smf ?

later it should be able to migrate to vbulletin.,
seo urls and so..., monetization via ppc options., easy customizable.

I would say go with phpbb there are lots people out there that make mods amongst other things compared to the other free alternatives.

I like simple machines forum for a free choice. It has a massive amount of mods, great support community, and has handled high volumes of traffic for me in the past without issue.

I kind of remember installing that many years ago. It was too vanilla for my taste back then, only because I had no idea how to modify the design to suit my needs. But, as far as functioning, I remember it doing that well. This was ages ago, my mind is kind of cloudy on this, so take nothing as a certainty.

In my experience, SMF sucks if you need to integrate it with an existing site. I like how it works better than PHPBB but it can't compare in the ease of customization category, in my opinion, and I have plenty of experience at it to make an informed review.
