high volume bandwidth solutions

We do 24-25 terabytes/month in traffic.

Lately I have been getting offers from places like swifthost and others for 50 cents/gig on volume. I am looking for recommendations from anyone who does over 10 tbytes/month in traffic, and who is using a host that offers 50 cents/gig or lower pricing. Who are you using, and are you happy from a customer service and connectivity point of view?

Any new hosting solution would have to include 4-5 high end servers and a hardware load balancer. We now pay 1.00US/gig, including hardware, and the support is great.

swift said 50 cents including all hardware we require plus tech sup. they are only an example. the problem is I am not interested in any 'risk'. We simply can not afford to have hardware/network problems. It would cost us too much money.

Morpheus - which host are you, and do you have any high bw (over 10tb/month) customers?

Well, 25 visitors a month, each downloading 1 TB of pictures and movies.

What it boils down to is that we have not heard of a single heavy hitter going with one of these new hosts. And we can't afford to move simply based on price alone.

if that was all there was to it we would move in a second. But dealing with so much traffic, you need connectivity that is 100%, and you need the best hardware, working 24/7.

Things are working well at our current host, and have been for a long time. That makes it a very murky proposition to leave.

So why not raise the issue with your current host? Give them examples of what you can find elsewhere. If you're really pushing that much bandwidth, my guess is they should probably be very interested in negotiating a new deal to prevent you from moving. Use your leverage.

I have yet to hear a single response from someone using more than 10t a month. did you read the first post. I am looking for high traffic users moving to lower cost bandwidth solutions. I love candid, but am being tempted by many new, cheaper hosts.

quiet, again... if you're really pushing that much, there are hosts that will serve you up a five star fucking dinner on a platinum platter brought out by the hottest babe you ever laid eyes on to get that business. If I had that amount of bargaining power, I'd damn sure be on the phone with my host workin' out some kind of new pricing structure. If I was the host, I'd rather cut you a deal than lose that paycheck completely. It's not everyday you get someone hosted with that amount of traffic. You said you like your current host... and you say you have the traffic... so why not use it and lower your costs?

I agree. and i have lowered things. if you take a look at candid there lowest rate is 2/gig. I am running at 1 a gig. It's strange how people are jumping all over us over a couple of posts. The thing is I am getting offers every day for 75 - 50 cents a gig. One offer for 40 cents a gig.

I respect my current host, and what they have done for us in the past. I am just looking for other options...

I'm not jumping on you or anything... just trying to suggest that there are more options than just moving or not moving, that's all... I've always had good luck when working things out with people I do business with, (hosting companies included) and I too am very hesitant to give up a good thing for something floating in the unknown...

I spend 75% of my time negotiating. that is isn't the problem. I am getting a good deal. Looking for viable solutions beyond my current host is the point of this post. more info = more power/negotiating leverage, regardless if I leave or stay. I didn't get the traffic I have by being stupid
