Toplists! ...Still Relevant?

I think for micro niched sites its good traffic, unfortunately they are seem to be the illegal microniches, so stay clear.

Clubdom.com had around 15 top lists because of it micro-niches but because of its brand (online since 1997) we didn't need it..

If you can find a good one and are able to utilize it to gain good traffic. But be warned the majority seem plagued with fake traffic and are half dead.

Sure, I have a banner that usually sits in one of the top 3 spots on some super shitty free hosted toplists that look like they haven't been touched since 1999, and all I have to do is send 1-5 "votes" a day from a text link buried on my site somewhere. The ratios from the traffic are always great like 1:50. But of course the amount of traffic you get is like 10 uniques a day lol.

Be aware of hitbots. It is not difficult to manipulate top lists.

Well, no they aren't always the illegal ones but yeah, you are correct that it works best - for me anyway - with micro-niches to filter traffic.
