Good thumbnailing script? Subject location aware?

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has come across a script that can recognise the main focus of a photo and thumbnail crop around that?
    Cheers.

my bad, it can tell the focal length, but not crop from that.

        example

using exiv2, will find the most used focal lengths of a directory of photos.

        Code:
        exiv2 *JPG | grep Focal | awk '{print $5}' | sort -n | uniq -c

How does a computer define the area of interest in a photo when it's so subjective to a human? If there's a full frontal shot of a pretty girl do you crop the face, boobs & torso, pussy, feet?...

That one is probably in the too hard basket, for a few more years anyway... unless you just want faces.

I do have a program that can recognise skin tones and crop around that, but it's for my sites only.

That's something you have to have installed on your server like ffmpeg, right?
