The system works for a lot of retail businesses.

My family has made over 2000 sales (all new customers) and are able to monetize at 50% off and almost everyone has purchased up-sales.

Out of 2000+ Groupon says that 20% will never cash in their coupon.

I am not sure if they are poised for collapse but definitely poised for a flat line.

I don't feel sorry for companies that fail on groupon advertising... it's a win/win, unless you're a complete idiot at marketing.

They also got a check from groupon for like $3 for that, so $4 total... which is just about what the meal cost them to produce, so they came out even and with some luck will get some return customers out of it...

I did a Groupon and it rocked. We were just discussing doing a competitor. You need to tailor the offer so that it works for you.
