The visitor should know on what site he will be directed. Join page it's good, if the main goal is to get signup, but if you need more sales from this user, I think the best way is to move them to the main home page

Your noticing traffic is only making it to homepage leaving after one click and wondering whether this traffic will convert better if you send them to the sign up page. The answer is no if they are truly clickers they will click from sponsors homepage to their sign up page. It is about the quality of traffic they will just wonder why a sign up page is appearing.
