This is true. Programs Like NukeX and others try to spin the content or even blend it, but it still is caught as duplicate content and will only hurt you in the end.

Golden rule is to submit to quality article directories instead of just article directories. Spinning is not a waste but make the spin quite good and submit the article only to a few article directories and not hundreds. It will give results.
