Fris did him a FAVOR here, by exposing serious security holes that needed to be fixed immediately. Most companies pay for that kind of service and information
Whether or not Fris asked Shaw for cash to not expose them is irrelevant. That's a "He said She said" situation anyways. However, Shaw SHOULD have paid him, or atleast thanked him, for showing him the vulnerabilities.
Also, what Fris did doesn't qualify as hacking or illegal system entry and he could never be prosecuted for those actions.
